Booking of Holidays

The Department for Education make clear that Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are "exceptional circumstances".

In exceptional circumstances, a request for absence must be made in advance, to the Headteacher, who will inform you of the decision prior to booking your holiday. If a request for leave is not authorised by the Headteacher and the student goes on holiday, the absence will be recorded as unauthorised which could result in a penalty fee. Holidays therefore should not be booked during term time as a matter of course.

If you wish the Headteacher to consider a request please submit the request well in advance of the planned holiday and before any firm booking is made. You will then be informed of the Headteacher's decision. However, in most cases permission will be refused.

Please refer to the School Calendar before you book a holiday.

The holidays are also listed on the Derbyshire County Council website.

In addition to the holidays listed we will be allocated 5 Inset days in each academic year. These are notified at the beginning of the year and will therefore not appear on the calendar until nearer the time.

Pupil Premium

The pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. Click here to read our latest pupil premium report.

School Library?

Our School library is so much more than a place for books so we call it the Learning Resources Centre (LRC). We are open daily and have over 7000 items for students to use.

In the Careers Resources section we have information that will help our students make the right choices for their futures.

To help with homework we run an after-school Homework Club every day except Friday from 3:00pm until 4:25pm.
